What causes lower back pain?
The 2 primary reasons why people experience back pain is from trauma and muscle imbalances. Trauma is sudden and occurs when there is a traumatic event that causes undue stress on the muscles, ligaments and joints around the spine. Muscle imbalances generally happen over time. Muscle imbalance occurs when certain muscles are shortened and tight, unable to stretch and release, while corresponding muscles in the body are overstretched and weak. This can lead to postural dysfunctions and misalignment of the pelvis and curvature of the spine.

For such a prevalent problem it is unfortunate that many people find relief from back pain through drugs, prescription pain medication and over the counter pain killers.
